The YUFE4Postdocs (Y4P) program has taken off. It is part of the Young Universities for the Future of Europe (YUFE) Alliance, bringing together nine young research-intensive universities. Supported by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, the Y4P project aims to attract and train future proof-researchers, building bridges between academia and society.

Interesting career opportunities

In total, 51 postdocs in various disciplines will be appointed across nine universities. They will be offered 36-month appointments and attractive working conditions. Further benefits include personalised supervision, career guidance and a specialist training program focused on ‘Community-Engagement based Research and Innovation’. Ten city councils and six business organisations will contribute to training development. The postdocs will freely define their project and carry out their research anchored in a YUFE host university of their choice. As architects of YUFE’s research ecosystem, they will also foster research collaboration with a co-host in a partner YUFE university.

As Anne Adams of the coordinating entity University of Antwerp says:
“YUFE4Postdoc intends to set a new standard for research training within the alliance and even beyond. It will deliver impact for cities, regions, communities and people by producing high qualitative science with societal relevance on short or longer term. And of course, it will also have an impact on the lives of the appointed researchers. With YUFE4Postdocs, the YUFE universities and their partners in cities and regions want to train ‘future-proof’ researchers. These are open-minded knowledge workers, who can build careers inside and outside the university”.

Applications
YUFE universities are pleased to announce two calls for postdoctoral research positions, open for all disciplines, under the overarching theme of ‘Urban opportunities and challenges’.
