The Young Universities for the Future of Europe (YUFE) Alliance is excited to announce the appointment of Maria-Valerie Schegk as the Alliance’s new Secretary General. Valerie will assume her position on 01 September 2023.
In her role as Secretary General, Valerie will spearhead the work with our universities and business partners to strengthen the collaboration within our Alliance and deepen its impact on our communities and the wider higher education sector further. Valerie takes over from the former YUFE Director, Daniela Trani, and will play a vital role in the continuous development of YUFE’s innovative strategies and policies.

Valerie’s background, as well as her personal drive, analytical mind, and hands-on approach, make her an excellent fit to work with all our partners towards the continued progress of YUFE in this critical phase of implementing our YUFE Vision 2030”, states Rianne Letschert, President of the YUFE Alliance and Maastricht University.
Valerie says about her appointment, “I am very excited to start my journey with YUFE. I am looking forward to working with this group of young and agile European universities to further implement a true European student journey”.
The Alliance is looking forward to start working with Valerie as a strong new member of the Alliance leadership and community.
